To save on petrol and reduce emissions, it’s recommended to switch off the engine when you’re stationary. But, given that most emissions are produced at start-up and the wear and tear on the engine, how long do I have to be stopped for it to be worth switching off the engine? Thirty seconds? Three minutes?
